One thing I don’t think people fully realize about professional pet care is the deep bond we develop—not just with the pets, but with the families we serve.
When we care for pets, we’re not just stopping by for a visit. We’re getting to know their personalities, their quirks, their routines… and before long, we love them as if they were our own. At the same time, we become a small part of our clients’ lives—sharing in their milestones, their changes, and their growth as families.
Take Dan and Kaleigh, for example.
Many years ago, they reached out to us to care for their two dogs, Brutus and Sully. At the time, they were living in an apartment, and Sully—who had recently been adopted—was still adjusting. He was a rescue and understandably cautious. He wasn’t aggressive, but he preferred his space and wasn’t too interested in meeting new people.
What he did love, however, were his walks.
So each day, we showed up for their midday visits and took Brutus and Sully out together. It didn’t take long before both dogs were eagerly waiting for us at the door, ready for their daily adventure. Trust was built, slowly but surely—and with Sully, that was everything.
But that was just the beginning.
Over time, Dan and Kaleigh got engaged and purchased their first home. We had the chance to visit, learn the new routine, and see how proud they were of this next chapter. Brutus and Sully were just as excited—especially about the backyard. Still, one thing didn’t change… we kept showing up every day.
When their wedding day arrived, we had the honor of caring for the pups so they could fully enjoy their celebration. We stayed overnight with Brutus and Sully, making sure they were safe, comfortable, and loved—so their owners could be present in one of the most important moments of their lives.
And now, their story continues.
They’re expecting a baby.
Our entire team was genuinely excited when we heard the news. Watching this family grow—from an apartment with two dogs, to a home, to a marriage, and now to welcoming a child—has been an incredible privilege. It’s something we never take for granted.
Today, Brutus and Sully are inseparable. They spend their days soaking up the sun, rolling in the grass, and enjoying their walks like always. And Sully? The once shy, unsure rescue now greets people happily, looking for attention—and sometimes even a lap to sit in.
Moments like these are what make this work so meaningful.
When I tell people I own and operate a pet care company, it’s about so much more than caring for pets. Yes, we get to love on amazing animals every day—but we also get a front-row seat to the beautiful moments in people’s lives. From relationships beginning, to marriages, to homes, to growing families… we’re there through it all.
It’s something I never expected when starting this business—but it’s something I truly cherish.
